If you're idea of fun is visiting (or God forbid living) in a place where everybody minds the business of one another & nobody running the asylum has even an ounce of knowledge on how to run much of anything, you've found your place. You can be regaled by the sagas & warnings of 'the wild Indians' who most still fear will raid & pillage their village. Mosey on over to ye old post office to hear tales of village wife swapping...or just be stopped & randomly told the issues one person has with another here (and everyone seemingly has issues with one another despite the size). You'll hear everything from, "half the people don't pay their water taxes & the Village can't shut them off, so don't bother paying". To the tales of Councilors who chase down little old ladies walking dogs down the lane. The reality being that rules, laws, etc are more or less subjective to who does what. Some can drink & drive around the Village constantly, some park & block alleyways, some have dogs that bark 24/7, some have dogs that defecate in others yards & it's fine...others can't do the same thing twice, even when approved by the Village Administrator or they'll have power tripping Councilors on their doorstep yelling. There is a reason most of the properties here are vacant (or soon to be) as people leave. It's because of failed leadership & a handful of loud mouths that act as area spokespeople. Paynton is a little bubble of uniqueness...uniqueness that can't maintain population, couldn't keep a school open & that wouldn't know how to attract business if you used Hooked on Phonics to sound out the big words to oblivious Councilors.
